What advise would you give to those currently planning to take training and start studying in Q3/Q4 2016?

Hurry up and start training prior to Q3 2016, but analyze the possibility of waiting and start training with the new version?

Thoughts?

I m planning PMP for 2nd Q of 2016... Should i worry about the 6th Edition of PMBOK. Because few of my collegues told me that 6th Edition May be release Dec-2016 or Jan-2017...
Hello Ranjan,

if you have read just the last few postings here in the thread you would already know that here is no reason to worry for you, since the release date for the 6th edition is meanwhile postponed to the 3rd quarter in 2017.
So we could expect that the PMP exam will not change before Q1/Q2 2018 ...

There is no reason to procrastinate.

As a certified practitioner you are not only obligated to keep up you should want to, continued education and conforming to new standards and practices is a part of what we do.

If you are ready take the exam as soon as you can and move on with your life.

I wasn't aware of your impressive Spanish skills. Good job George! ;)

Hello George,

the release of the new PMBoK Guide edition was actually postponed to the end of 2017 (for the online version) respective the beginning of 2018 for the printed version.
However, as we know out of history PMI will change the PMP exam approx. about a half year after release of the new edition.
That is, cause all the training insititutes and publisher have to update their material along the changes.
Back to your question:
I would say, that every new aspirant should try to go for the exam based on the actual version as long as it seems possible, depending on the needed prep time.
If they could not start their prep until lets say 3 month before the exam will change, than i would recommend to start preparing based on the new material and go for the exam about 1 or to months after changes takes place, so you could consider the first lessons learned of new exam takers.

Hope this helps,

Markus
Thank you Markus for the update

I plan on buying the new PMBOK when released just to stay current. I suspect that by the time I have to renew my CAPM another edition will be published.
