Rita. I found the PMBOK nearly impossible to read!
I also used the PM Prepcast Exam Simulator, provided by my employer. Saving Changes...

Hi George,
i do assume we are talking about PMP prep, right?
If so, than the combination out of Rita's book and HEad First in addition to the PMBOK Guide would be my choice.
I have done it this way ...

Markus

I used an app (pocket prep) every night for 1 hour after my boot camp. I copied the process grid and formulas I would use on my scrap paper each day as well to memorize. The week of the exam I used the "exam cram" book. I did about 3/4 of the book using the prescribed approach and the last 1/3 the day of the exam. I entered the exam and did my brain dump on the scrap paper. I passed on my first try.
I am also a Registered Nurse. I think that the PMP exam was harder than my boards, because they are testing a way of thinking where this is straight memorization.

I like the visual way to study, by watching online videos explaining a certain concept, then to read about that in a book, so to have my PMI-SP, I watched Vanina Mangano online videos, with PMI-SP Exam Success, Boot Camp manual from Crosswind Saving Changes...
