After having a conversation with CIO over the weekend about Bimodal IT I was curious to see if any fellow PMs have seen an increase in the Bimodal conversation or worked in a company that has adopted this thinking?

Is it working? Is it helping organize you projects, programs and portfolios?

If you are unfamiliar here is a link to Gartner with definition.

I have been working in this type of structures for years including right now. Obviously, time before, at least my personal experience, they not receive this name. It works for the organizations where I was involved no matter the size. For example, to add something practical, we have diferent project life cycles to create products in this environement, we are close to the strategical group to decide lot of things related to decide what will do, etc.

Agreed, This type of structure has not had a name in the past. I think Gartner wanted to make money of a new type of definition. The insight is always appreciated.

"This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy."
