Make sure they are meaningful! Many project managers leave out key points. Below is a summary from https://www.projectsmart.co.uk/how-to-repo...n-a-project.php

Resource Status Pro Tips
• Is it Red? Your issue is mega-important if it is a "blocking issue."
o If the problem is stopping the project from moving forward and is single-handedly responsible for endangering the delivery date, it is a blocking issue and is very important.
o If the problem is just another bug in some software that will be resolved in short order, it is not as important.

Providing Commentary:
• Owner: Add the person's name who owns the action to drive the issue forward
• When Will Actions Be Resolved?:
o Provide a time and date for when the issue will be resolved.
o If you can't, then provide a time/date for when you will get to the next step in the issue resolution process.
o Estimated dates are better than nothing
• Action to resolve issues: What is currently being done to resolve this issue?
o Are you firing up an escalation to Sr. Leaders?
o Are you calling out for reinforcements from a particular group?
o Are there alternatives?
