Conflict management is one of the key skill when we are dealing with people. I have little confusion on conflict management origin. Is Conflict management comes under the same umbrella of People management? if yes, please provide insights of it.

Conflict management and resolution are indeed key skills for People Managers. But they are not skills *exclusively* for people managers. It is a skill that is necessary for all roles.

It is like saying that all cats have four paws - therefore, are four paws only for cats and no other animals? One would argue not.

Conflict management is part of people management and it is inevitable. Denying or ignoring it as an inevitable fact to deal with can lead to a serious issue.
There are general steps we should follow to solve it:

Step 1: Identify the source of the conflict.
Step 2: Look beyond the incident
Step 3: Request solutions.
Step 4: Identify solutions both disputants can support.
Step 5: Agreement

But we need always to keep in mind: Conflict is an inevitable part of work.

Yes. it is part of People management .Wherever there are people, there always will be conflict. Managers have to deal with conflict in the workplace every day. Conflict management is the ability to be able to identify and handle conflicts sensibly, fairly, and efficiently.
it is part of our lives. it is important that there are people who understand conflicts and know how to resolve them. This is important in today's market more than ever. Everyone is striving to show how valuable they are to the company they work for and at times, this can lead to disputes with other members of the team.

Resolving conflicts require emotional intelligence which includes many things such as interpersonal skills, influencing, active listening etc. Giving these are related to people, I guess you can call it people management, but that is one of that broad terms that doesn't really mean anything.

Sateesh -

Lots of good feedback above + courses and resources on conflict resolution available online.

Couple of things to remember:

1. Conflict resolution is situational - collaboration/confronting the problem might be good defaults, but they shouldn't be used in all cases

2. Regular healthy conflict is a sign of a healthy team

As per PMBOK, it's a part from the Human Resource Management and its very important to solve any problem and use a technique as a professional way as shown in PMBOK when you face with other stakeholder in the project to solve a problem in a proper way!!!
