Social media has exploded over the past few years, and is widely used by millions on a personal and professional basis. What does this mean for project managers? What does it mean for project teams, stakeholders and organizations? How is it being used, how can it be used and what are the cautions in its adoption?

Social media itself takes many forms. Some vehicles are designed for personal use, others are more intended for professional applications, and many more blend both worlds together. Project applications are also starting to become social media 'aware'.  Some use social media for communications within the project team, and still others as a means of supporting broader stakeholder awareness and communications.

In this presentation, Mark Mullaly explores the world of social media, and its relevance for project management. The presentation will include an overview of available media solutions, how they can be used (and abused) in a project context, and guidelines for how to select, plan for and incorporate social media. He will explore strategies to take best advantage of social media solutions, as well as cautions, risks and pitfalls to be watched for.
