Project HEADWAY: Marketing Ourselves - Career Development for Project Managers
This presentation is supporting material for this video.
You are only as good as your last project.
Or are you? Truth be told, project managers often don't do a great job of marketing themselves. Typically, they assume their track record, credibility and competence speak for themselves. Stay focussed, do a good job, deliver projects well, and the opportunities and accolades will follow. The challenge is that this isn't always true, and isn't and accurate reflection of how the world works. If we want recognition, reward and opportunity, we have to ask for it. We need to demonstrate our competency, highlight our abilities and get out there and sell ourselves.
For those who find this concept a little discomforting, this webinar is for you. Mark Mullaly explores what it means to develop and reinforce your abilities as a project manager. Rather than looking on career development as a honing and refining of technical skills and abilities, he takes on the necessary challenge of developing our career as one of ensuring visibility, reinforcing reputation and cementing perceptions of competence. It's not enough to be a great project manager; it is also necessary to be seen as a great project manager. Stand up and be counted; your career will thank you for it.
