PMXPO 2014: Hacking the Gantt: Visual Tools for Tracking Agile Work in a Waterfall Organization
This presentation is supporting material for this video.
For traditional-minded organizations making the transition to Agile, one of the most challenging aspects of the change is coping with a new style of how work is tracked. Management may be on board with the idea of Agile, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re ready to give up their Gantt Charts for a backlog and a burndown. If you are working with Agile teams and need to report up to management on project status, you need to find a way to meet the needs expressed by management without sacrificing your efforts to move to Agile. This session will explore some of the reasons why this part of the transition can be so problematic and also offer a few simple techniques you can use to satisfy the organization’s desire for traditional artifacts as they find their way toward a more Agile way of looking at how the work is going.
