Building productive teams is a critical aspect of any project. We need our team members to collaboratively deliver results, solve problems and respond to issues. This is particularly for our larger and more strategic projects, where challenges are complex and the stakes for resolving them are high.

Existing team development models might tell us what will happen as we move through the stages of forming, storming and norming. They are often less helpful in terms of practical guidance on how to help them build effective working relationships that allow them to thrive. In particular, they don’t provide a lot of guidance on how to help teams to constructively manage conflict on a sustained basis. The result is that when challenges emerge, teams often simply revert to storming.

Join Mark Mullaly as he explores strategies for building conflict-competent project teams. You’ll leverage recent insights into team development and be exposed to the latest research in how to most effectively manage decision making in groups. The result will be concrete strategies that you can adapt and apply in your organization today.
