Project HEADWAY: Consulting Is Everyone's Job
This presentation is supporting material for this video.
Consulting is often viewed as a rarified and exceptional skill-set, performed by highly trained people in expensive suits. The reality is something very different. We are all consultants. Every single one of us.
Accepting this truth will be a challenge on several fronts. The first thing that we have to confront is what it means to be a consultant. The second challenge to be addressed is our own pre-formed biases of how we view consultants and consulting. And the third topic to be addressed is confronting and questioning how we approach our roles today (and how well that is—or isn’t—working for us).
The essence of the consulting relationship depends upon a problem, a client that cares about solving that problem and someone whose role is getting that problem solved. That would be you. Yes, you. You’re the consultant in many aspects and roles in your life, and you do it on a semi-regular basis.
In this presentation, Mark Mullaly debunks the myths of what it means to be a consultant, and makes that case that all of us play a consulting role. He explores the challenges of consulting effectively. Most importantly, he identifies strategies to become a better consultant, and provides techniques and insights to help become a better consultant to your clients, whoever they may be.
We are all consultants, and consulting is everyone’s job. Join us, and learn how to be awesome at it.
