Project HEADWAY: Selling a Practical Approach to Project Management
This presentation is supporting material for this video.
Every organization has to wrestle with understanding the value of adopting a project management approach.
Many organizations start with the adoption of perceived standards, borrowing the practices of another company or buying a methodology off-the-shelf. These implementations often struggle because what gets implemented isn’t appropriate, doesn’t fit or is not aligned with the culture of the organization.
What we know from research is that the organizations that realized the greatest value from their project management practices are those who adopt practices that do fit, that are aligned and that make sense in the context of the types of projects they take on. Doing this takes work. It takes time and effort and support to make happen.
The start of this challenge is often getting the support to make an investment in project management in the first place.
