Overview

The Agile Enterprise: Measuring Agile Value through Lean Six Sigma and the Code of Ethics” introduces a practical framework for ethical, data-driven value assessment in Agile organizations. It integrates three perspectives—Agile, Lean Six Sigma, and the PMI Code of Ethics—around a unified goal: measuring what truly matters in delivery.
The presentation challenges narrow reliance on velocity and story points by defining five dimensions of comprehensive value: customer impact, business and financial outcomes, quality and risk reduction, team health and sustainability, and learning and adaptability. This moves leaders from counting outputs to understanding outcomes and systemic effects.
Lean Six Sigma contributes statistical rigor, root-cause analysis, and variation control, while Agile provides adaptability, rapid feedback, and incremental experimentation. The PMI Code of Ethics anchors this system through four pillars of responsible value measurement: responsibility (avoiding harmful incentives and waste), respect (protecting people and context), fairness (preventing biased or punitive metrics), and honesty (transparent definitions, data, and limitations).
A four-phase deployment strategy translates theory into practice: align on value and ethics; design and baseline metrics; pilot and refine in selected teams; then scale with governance and continuous improvement. The result is a resilient, Agile enterprise that measures value credibly, improves intelligently, and behaves ethically.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain how Agile, Lean Six Sigma, and the PMI Code of Ethics can be integrated to measure value in a comprehensive and ethical way.
  • Identify the five key dimensions of value and evaluate how they move organizations from output-based to outcome-based measurement.
  • Apply a structured approach to design, pilot, and scale ethical, data-driven value measurement frameworks in Agile environments.
