Overview

People are how projects get done. Selecting, aligning and managing people in project teams is an essential activity in ensuring success. Yet strategies for effectively building teams are still often not well understood. Worse, even when we understand what good team building should look like, we often don’t do it.

The essential framework for developing teams has been largely unchanged for nearly 50 years. Yet evidence strongly suggests that what really contributes to team development requires a different approach and perspective than simply forming, storming, norming and performing.

So what does work? How can team be effectively built and sustained? What are the strategies that allow project managers to assemble people into teams, build trust, negotiate performance expectations and sustain performance over time? What actually works, and how can we apply those strategies efficiently and effectively.

In this presentation, Mark Mullaly navigates the world of team building. He provides insights into traditional viewpoints and why they have endured. More importantly, he explores what we know about what works and doesn’t work in team building. You will learn what strategies effectively support team building, how to design an effectively team development approach and what is most effective in terms of sustaining team performance over time. If you lead teams (and who among us doesn’t?) this is a presentation you won’t want to miss.
