Overview
We are in very real danger of taking Project Management Offices (PMOs) for granted. This means not only assuming that they are necessary, but assuming we know what they are for and what they are created to do. Yet PMOs are often challenged to prove their relevance and struggle for sustainability.
Numerous research has shown that the half-life of PMOs is approximately 2 years. That’s an incredibly short period in the life of an organizational transition. The average PMO is advocated for, implemented, operationalized and extinguished in no more than twenty-four months. Underlying this transition is a significant investment in resources, attention and effort that often isn’t realizing results.
If PMOs are going to be viable in the long term, then they need to deliver value. That means that we need to be clear about expectations going in. We need to have a solid and well-defined understanding of the intended purpose of the PMO, the services it will provide and the value it is expected to deliver. PMOs can provide value. In some instances, they demonstrably do. And yet that experience isn’t widespread. This webinar attempts to identify what is necessary to make a difference, in the implementation as well as the delivery.
What is the value of the PMO? And how do you demonstrate the value of yours? If you care about delivering value—or if you aren’t quite sure what value you should be delivering—then this is a webinar you won’t want to miss.
