The Risk with Technology Updates and CRM
I am a project manager from a vendor company. As a vendor, we need the principal as our distributor for the products. Sometimes, the principal just provides the products, but it will also help us in the implementation phase as the implementor or just as a consultant. In this article, I want to share my experience in my client project—which has a problem with product technology updates.
The project struggles with delivery because the product doesn’t work well. The product cannot meet the requirements of the existing product that is already being implemented by the customer. It makes the project hard to close because we cannot meet the project’s goal. There is a good relationship and support from the team, and the customer can make the payment—although the solution cannot be implemented by the end of the project.
The project looks simple because most of the items are the same as the items in the last project. Luckily, the project manager is also the same, so it is not too difficult to make the correlations between those projects. But the new project is getting worse in the middle of implementation because of missing information (and lack of information) about the product’s technology update.
