What Is Lazy Project Management?

From the The Project Shrink Blog

Bas de Baar is a Dutch visual facilitator, creating visual tools for dialogue. He is dedicated to improve the dialogue we use to make sense of change. As The Project Shrink, this is the riddle he tries to solve: “If you are a Project Manager that operates for a short period of time in a foreign organization, with a global team you don’t know, in a domain you would not know, using virtual communication, high uncertainty, limited authority and part of what you do out in the open on the Internet, how do you make it all work?”

During the PMI EMEA Congres in Milan I had the pleasure of talking to Peter Taylor, author of The Lazy Project Manager.

So, I asked him: "What is Lazy Project Management?"

Read "The Effective Executive" by Peter Drucker, published in 1966. Basically says the same thing: What should be my contribution? Then, get the right things done. Manage your time. Focus and mobilize your strengths (and dont waste time trying to improve your weaknesses). Prioritize. Yes Drucker is terse. Yes his audio tapes are arduous because of the thick German accent. But when it comes to where the rubber meets the road in business (e.g. making money) this guy is the king in the land of effectiveness. And that is what THIS VIDEO says it is all about. So if you want more of this kool-aid, read Drucker.

Hi Kevin, I know Drucker but haven't read your suggestion. The thick German accent should make it even more remarkable. :) (same as my thick Dutch accent :))
