I just came across an article about employees motivation New study shows what Bay Area employees want most at work. (Hint: It's not ping pong)

"one-third of the millennials surveyed — saying they would leave their current job if an employer reflected unethical or immoral behavior"

Is it just a local trend or general direction?

I think it is a more general tendency.

Thanks for sharing. I hope it's a general trend too.

But I'm concerned about the wording in that article.
“Ethics plays a role in retaining talent too, with 2 in 5 professionals — one-third of the millennials surveyed — saying they would leave their current job if an employer reflected unethical or immoral behavior.”

What does 2 in 5 professionals, one –third of millennials actually mean.

Are they saying that 1/3 of professionals surveyed were millennials. 1/3 of the 2 in 5 professionals were millennials. 1/3 = 2 in 5. What?

While I very much like the article, it’s statements like this that make me miss the days of robust editing.

@Douglas

Agree clarity could be better.
Sound like millennials value it more!

Vincent -

While this level of fairness is often associated with Millennials, I'd see it as a more general trend in those who have the confidence to walk away from a bad job knowing they will land on their feet. Globalization, the rise of the gig economy & massive online education offerings are all reducing the friction involved with getting employed doing something that fits ones core values better...

It's not a coincidence that story came out of California. Please do us all a favor and annex yourselves from the US ;-)

@Kiron
I agree more independent/confident people don't accept for long a bad position. I have done so many years ago myself.

@Sante
Yes, California still ahead of most of US in values

Oh Vincent, I was actually thinking the opposite for California lol. Strange how one comment can make two people think the complete opposite :-)

The new era and a generation gap will create a lot of challenges how to motivate people
