Hello, everyone! I (Laura) would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the newest Engagement Specialist on the Digital Communities team at PMI. I’ll be helping out around the community to facilitate productive, enjoyable, and valuable participation for our members.
Coming from the international development sector, I was very excited to see the global reach of the community here at ProjectManagement.com! So many countries and cultures are represented, lending diversity of experience, perspective, and expertise. Organizations and populations around the world are truly benefiting from the work of Project Managers!
For me, an important component of serving an international community is providing content in languages other than English. On ProjectManagement.com, you can find webinars conducted in Arabic, Spanish, and French, and a Russian language webinar is being offered in February. As 2019 progresses, we seek to continue to expand the non-English language content available on ProjectManagement.com.
After all, language is key to how we connect with and interact with each other, and we recognize that members may be more comfortable in their native language. Where possible, we hope to improve access to information for non-English speakers so that they may participate in the conversation and benefit from community members’ great knowledge and insights.
On a daily basis, interacting with this international community allows me to refine my cross-cultural communication skills – which are indispensable as it becomes increasingly common to work on global teams and projects. I hope that many of you are finding the same! I am looking forward to connecting with you, supporting you, and continuing to learn through my interactions with all of you.

Laura,
Thank you for your introduction and your work in international diversity. The last PMI Seminars World event I attended was well represented by a variety of people (Turkey, Panama, Spain, US, UK and more).
The power of different perspectives and experiences was evident all week, but was really on display for an exercise at the end of the seminar. We were divided into groups and given 30 minutes to come up with the "trip of a lifetime" gifted by the owner of a very successful international business. Budget was unlimited--present your plan.
I can't tell you what we did out of respect for the presenter's future classes. However, it wasn't a surprise that our group's idea won the exercise in large part due to the diversity in the group. We were by far the most diverse in every way imaginable! Thanks again for your work--it is appreciated.

Laura,
Absolutely agree. As a Project Management Professional, I strongly believe that Project Management can lift companies and people. Through training and executing via best practices, we can help to build prosperity, improve healthcare, enhance scientific and technological discoveries and education. It takes a diverse group of people to make those sort of impacts.

Laura, thank you so much for this nice initiative. In fact, no endeavor can be great whose undertakers are narrow in mind or spirit. Languages must no longer be a barrier for the shinning of our community and diversity is the only way to do it.

Welcome! Great to see your passion.
Hi Laura, I commend you on this initiative. It is of value to members in an additional way. For those of us trying to learn a new language (e.g. Arabic for me) it will give us an opportunity to hear the language in our PM professional context. What a great professional language education tool! Penelope
