With the rise of remote work, remote project management has become more common. ¿What communication management strategies and online communication and collaboration tools do you use to facilitate the coordination of your geographically dispersed teams?

I am working in remote from year 2000. Things changed from that time. In my actual work place we are using the suite of tools provided by Microsoft.

Veronica -

Tools can certainly help, but the fundamentals of motivating a team of people haven't changed. These include:
- satisfying intrinsic needs for purpose, autonomy & mastery
- helping the team to develop its culture including a high level of psychological safety
- serving the team rather than having them serve you

A combination of good audio/video communication tools (e.g. Zoom, MS Teams) with virtual collaboration platforms (e.g. Mural, Miro) can help.

Hi Veronica;

I have used G Suite and Microsoft Office for collaboration tools. Teams work very well with them. We use OneDrive heavily for constructing and editing documents.

We use the calendar to create an online project agenda to review meetings and the project team's availability. For communication, we use WhatsApp. However, I personally don't like WhatsApp because I feel it's too personal. I would prefer Google Hangouts Spaces or Teams for interacting with the team.

I hope this helps! Regards

We went fully remote from March-2020 to sometime in 2021. Then we began a hybrid model that is continuing.
We have exclusively used Microsoft products to stay in touch (Teams), to hold meetings (Teams), data repository (Teams). We are slowly migrating some things to Sharepoint. I know we are slow.
In between I have been leading a project with teams in Asia, and in the US. Often WhatsApp has been used as a communication channel. However, all decisions are still logged in the project approved format.
