Friends and fellow practitioners of Project, Program and Portfolio Management

The world of technology has never been so exciting since the Y2K days.

Artificial Intelligence is changing the way we do things. But is doing enough?

Understanding organizational strategy, building portfolios, working out program roadmaps and executing complex projects is the real essence of being a PPPM practitioner. And flavoured with AI - this is going to be really interesting.

How are you working towards your AI in PPPM journey?

Join me and my fellow panelists to seek answers to some intriguing questions about the impact and value of AI in Portfolio Program and Project Management

I'm attempting to approach AI adoption judiciously. My position is that organizations shouldn't adopt AI because AI is "important"; they should adopt AI where it demonstrably improves their ability to achieve meaningful business outcomes, and only to the extent that it fits their strategy, capabilities, constraints, and capacity for change.

The comparison to Y2K is interesting because it reminds us that widespread attention doesn't always mean every organization faces the same challenge. Y2K presented a genuine technical risk, but the amount of work required varied dramatically from one organization to another, even though the public narrative often treated it as universal. AI has far greater long-term potential, but I think we're seeing a similar tendency to assume every organization needs the same level of urgency and investment, when the right response really depends on its business, capabilities, and objectives.

If your webinar will be delving into how to identify areas where AI adoption can have the greatest impact on an organization, it will be well worth watching. I'll have to watch the recording since you're probably already into the Q&A section, now.

AI is becoming an important capability for PPPM, but I see it as an enabler rather than a replacement for project professionals.
Understanding how to use AI to improve planning, decision-making, and delivery while maintaining sound governance and human judgment will be a key skill for project leaders going forward.
