What advise would you give to those currently planning to take training and start studying in Q3/Q4 2016?

Hurry up and start training prior to Q3 2016, but analyze the possibility of waiting and start training with the new version?

Thoughts?

I plan on buying the new PMBOK when released just to stay current. I suspect that by the time I have to renew my CAPM another edition will be published.
I assume that will be a free pdf for PMI members...

That would be nice. That last one "cost" me $80 or so. I had to purchase it for school.

The exam is still based on PMBOK5 ,until PMI says otherwise. In my opinion, the transition should be seamless ,if PMBOK6 is released at Q1 2018,then reflection should start from Q2 .

I hope the electronic version (PDF) will keep the open feature of previous PMBOK. The capacity to Highlight more than anything.
Other PMI document are lock in a way you can't event Highlight.

Has a consultant I love the PDF version, can rapidly search, no additional weight, and I like to highlight some key informations

The PMBOK Guide 6th edition is going to launch in the 3rd quarter of 2017 and the PMP and PMI-ACP exam will witness changes according to the new version from January 2018 onwards. If somebody is looking to get PMP certification in 2017, they can start preparing now and can pass their exam before 2018. It's not available yet, Diana. They do have the Standard for Project Management (7th edition) available as an exposure draft.

On the pmi.org web site, select About Standards under PMBOK Guide & Standards, then Get Involved With Standards. You will see the link Check for available exposure drafts under the Standards Participation section.
