Project managers are the ultimate generalists. In theory, we are able to bring our skills and talents to just about any challenge and any project. With the right process, the right approach and the right acumen, we should be able to be successful.

The reality is a little bit different. There is an inherent bias in most organizations towards hiring project managers that know the project, know the business and know the industry. While project managers might be the ultimate generalists, project management clients are often looking for specialists.

That creates an interesting challenge. If you are a project manager that wants to shift not your career, but your industry, how do you do that? How do you successfully signal your ability to manage different types of projects in a different context? How do you build credibility when you are faced with a new project, a new challenge and in particular a very new kind of project?

What it takes to manage a shift between industries and expertise isn’t always straightforward or obvious. The reality, however, is that it is possible. If you are wanting to make a shift in industry—or you are anticipating doing so in the furture—this is a webinar that you won’t want to miss.
