Situation: You're a bright PM ISO extra cash.

My CIO, Shirzad, hates it when I go window shopping on the web for potentially interesting technologies and business models.  When I first looked at BitWine I immediately pictured him rolling his eyes in disgust.

The idea is that subject matter experts sell their time by the minute via the web.  It doesnt necessarily work on the context of a "do everything" portal.  The closest thing I could find to PM as a category was Risk Management and I can't say I would pay for the advice of the people there based on the info they've provided.  Still, I wonder if it would work within the gantthead community.  Right this minute, we have 281,747 members and we're pretty focused.  So I think the people who come to us know what they are looking for and are likely to find it.  I also think there are a lot of smart people out there - experts in our field, who don't mind helping others.

Would something like this be appealing?  Does the money matter at all?  Please comment or just send me an email at [email protected].

Hehehe - thanks for your confidence in my skepticism Dave.   My favorite expert on BitWine is the "Christian Music Advisor" who I can talk to for .40cents/min.

But seriously, I could see something like this being useful in a business setting, but only in rare instances.   It just seems like there are too many variables that would have to be lined up just right for the overall experience to be positive on a regular basis .... my 2c :-)

My first time to the blog site...it sounds like you are describing possibly an online chat or other technical support online that one would pay a fee for to ask questions or seek advice? Hmmm, already a lot of great info and resources available on gantthead that we as premium members pay for. I have not jumped on the blogging band wagon yet, however, if I understand the concept, it is similar to the old internet chat rooms or discussion boards? Does your gantthead blog allow any member to open a new discussion that could be viewed by all and allow them to respond with their own ideas, suggestions, advice, etc.? Sharing the knowledge so to speak?

Thanks for your comment.  We do have some pretty active discussion boards on the site and soon every member who wants to will have blogging capabilities.  We also have a great Techniques wiki that we launched a month ago that will soon be expanding into a full blown glossary.  If you have other ideas around how we might make it easier to participate, please let me know.
