Project Management

Jerking Your Chain

From the An Influential Project Manager Blog
by
Today, more than ever, a project manager needs to be an influencer. The purpose of this blog is to stimulate your journey towards greater influence. With influence, you can overcome the roadblocks thrown in your way, overcome opposition, align stakeholders and, enjoy your role even more. However, since I know you are busy, the posts here will be short (about a minute), thought provoking and also drive you towards action. Feel free to connect with me, ask me questions, and share what's good here.

Who is having a laugh at you right now?

They say something, do something, that makes you mad.

Do they do it on purpose? Surely not, they are just ignorant.

Either way, you have a problem.

For when they do something that gets you mad/angry/frustrated/sad, they have disturbed you.

Deliberate or not, their behaviour has influenced you.

Question is, does that help you or them?

Hmmm, maybe it’s time you stopped those automatic reactions and allowing others to jerk your chain.

Learn to stay in control.
