I feel it’s starting to have enough data and input, but for now, the role of a project manager is still necessary on the actual ground—not just in the virtual world.

All roles related to project management (all the roles defined by the PMI) are dead as they are originally defined mainly when generative AI started to be use in 2017. As you know, generative AI is just a subset of AI. We are using AI from long time before. If all of us, involved into initiatives performing a role, do not understand that then we are lost.
