I have identified three critical areas in a project to focus on. They all intertwine. It's up to the Project Manager to keep a close watch over them or suffer the consequences.

(1) Statement of Work

Review with a fine tooth comb what you are delivering.

(2) Scope Creep

Changes are inevitable, but keep it to a minimum.

(3) Key Performance Indicators

Make sure you are delivering results.

That's a good start, and there's probably at least 10 more critical areas.

I hear you Sante. I know there are so many critical areas to watch. Never a dull moment in the life of a PM.

Good Points Drake and as Sante said, there are several more critical areas.

So true Rami that there are several more critical areas.

I'm just pointing out how the SOW, SC & KPI tie in together. Think of it as 3 wires inside a probe that is checking the health of a project.
