Citizen Developer Foundation Course
From the The Big Time Blog
by Rami Kaibni
Managing any project successfully is all about Team Work combined with years of Accrued Expertise. It is an asset to have an educational background that compliments your field of expertise but "education" without "experience" is like an "arrow" without a "bow." You can never make a perfect shot with a temporary arrow unless you have a permanent bow called: "Life's Experience." Remember, you can never teach experience but you can always teach from experience.

In my last blog Citizen Development from the Eye of a Non-IT Project Manager , I discussed what Citizen Development is, it's benefits and an overview of key roles in Citizen Development. This blog will be about the Citizen Development Foundation course which is the first in four planned courses related to Citizen Development.
Below is some basic information on the course:
- 90-Minute Self-Paced course
- Course Fee is $79
- Upon completion of the course, you earn a PMI Certification.
- You earn 2 PDU's (1 Technical + 1 Leadership)
- No exam, no expiry date
My passion for CD started after taking this course. I highly recommend everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and take this course.
Feel free to reach out to me for the Reigstration Link.
The foundation course is mostly about what CD is with an introduction to the CD Canvas. It includes three modules, as follows:
A) Basics of Citizen Development
B) Citizen Development Canvas
- Project Delivery
- Capability Development
- Operating Model
- Organizational Alignment
- Maturity Model
C) Ideation 2.0
In the next blog, I will go into the details of the CD Practitioner Course, so stay tuned !

Rami, did you get the certificate of completion in the mail or digitally? I haven't gotten either so wondering if I should follow up with them

Colleen, you get the certificate of completion digitally as I don't think PMI mails certificates anymore. For the CD Foundation certificate, go to your Library, then to Completed Courses, then scroll down to find the CD Foundation course and on the Top Right side of the course name you should find a tab named "Certificate" - Click on it and your certificate will download. Let me know if you did find it? If not, then contact customer care.
For courses (except those with micro-credentials for which you get a badge), certificates are not digitally sent but you can find them in your library and manually download them. Hope this helps!
