Yes, it is important to keep that "forest view." I constantly remind my team and myself of what is the bigger objective that we are marching towards, and that tough times always turn the corner. It is also important to personalize your team management strategy (easier said than done), as different approaches work with different individuals (e.g., some feel motivated by cash incentives, some may look up to their leaders to lead by example)

I love it and results themselves keep me driven. Implementation, innovation and integration is a must. My first day at kickoff, I cried. Then, I reminded myself what I signed up for. This goal was spoken for me when I went to war. So I thought to myself: these pages aren’t scarier than 22 projects thrown at you on day one. It can’t be more fast paced than that. I’ve learned it can and it’s alright. Point is during kickoff if I survive through Friday I’m going to change my life. 11 programs later, I’m here adding to people in the field I absolutely adore. Project management is needed for everyone. We are structured differently and built to succeed and provide value. A great team is ideal but it’s up to us to create the our own standards prior to showing up for the tasks. Oddly, I’ve never been so compelled to be as productive, concise and engaging until this profession found me. Humbly. It is fulfilling throughout the hectic moments. Start to finishing touches of the thrill is fantastic. I thank my mentor because this field is one I haven’t shaken. That is how I remain motivated.

My leadership style is according to each individual. I provide multiple solutions that are creative, exciting environments to perform in. Difficult times? I amp my champions up! I realize by respecting their personal and down time. So during work, I am supportive and provide guidance as if it is normal even if I’m not at ease. Then, after those stressful hours, there’s the beauty in closure. I celebrate them!

Staying motivated and leading effectively during stressful times is both a test of resilience and a reflection of purpose.
In my experience, it begins with anchoring ourselves in the “why” of the project—reminding both ourselves and the team of the value we’re delivering and the impact of our work.
That sense of purpose is a powerful motivator.

To stay focused under pressure, I practice what I call the Leadership Tripod:
- Clarity – I revisit the roadmap and reframe complexity into manageable priorities.
It helps reduce noise and keeps the team aligned.
- Connection – Regular check-ins (not just for status, but for well-being) ensure I stay attuned to the team's pulse.
- Composure – Even when things get chaotic, the leader’s calm is contagious.
I lead by example, balancing empathy with decisiveness.

As for the team, I’ve found that transparency, trust, and empowerment are crucial.
I involve them in solutions, celebrate small wins, and create a space where it’s safe to speak up and adapt.
During high-stress phases, I also rotate responsibilities slightly to prevent burnout and to keep people engaged by using their strengths.

And finally, I reflect regularly—whether through journaling or quick retrospectives.
This keeps me grounded, helps me learn from pressure situations, and ultimately renews my motivation.

Stress will always exist—but with the right mindset and practices, we can turn it into a catalyst for growth, innovation, and stronger leadership.

One thing that helps a lot to regain calm in stressful moments is to review your priority list and resolve the most important conflicts or problems first. As each situation is resolved one by one, the feeling of calm and control expands, and both the Project Manager and the team will feel more focused and productive.
