EGO: The Enemy of Success !

From the The Big Time Blog
by
Managing any project successfully is all about Team Work combined with years of Accrued Expertise. It is an asset to have an educational background that compliments your field of expertise but "education" without "experience" is like an "arrow" without a "bow." You can never make a perfect shot with a temporary arrow unless you have a permanent bow called: "Life's Experience." Remember, you can never teach experience but you can always teach from experience.

Ego is one of the things that might reflect negatively on your team especially if it is excessive so if you are a manager who has high ego, then you need to work on keeping it at very low levels.

To be a true leader you have to remove the  "E" and let it "GO".

Always Remember: "I" is the smallest word in the Dictionary, don't make it the biggest in your Vocabulary!

Managers really need to understand the symptoms of high ego. Sometimes, people do not understand that it is their EGO causing more issues.
Accept the good things based on merits do not try to kill an idea if you simply don't like it.

@Pravin: Absolutely and as you've mentioned, some people do not realize it is their EGO that is the root cause of issues or they know but would never admit it.

It's True.. It kills the team spirit and will badly spoil the team work.

There is a thin line between EGO and Self Confidence. I believe that thin line is in different places for different people. We don't want to crush the Self Confidence of our friends, peers, team members, and associates.

It's a very difficult subject to discuss with someone one-on-one, requiring significant tact and compassion. I hope I don't have to do it again, ever.

@Fosco: Ego is part of the personality so either you have an Egoish Personality or Leader Personality.

@Parent: Nice Expression ... Although there is no logic in ego itself, yet you are right, it is an egological blog.
