I have been thinking about cross-team collaboration lately as it is one of the key success factors in programs. I collected some of my thoughts into what I am calling a "Collaboration Manifesto".
Feedback and suggestions are welcome.
Collaboration Manifesto
- We are greater together. Teams that collaborate deliver better results.
- We take the time and invest in relationships.
- We promote a “One Team” behavior across teams and organizational divisions.
- We incentivize collaboration and teamwork over personal goals and office politics.
- We strive to bring people together to bring about something brilliant.
- We understand the importance of diversity of thought.
- We embrace continuous learning.
- We encourage a bias toward action over inaction.
- We strive for company culture where leaders are empathetic and encouraging.

Dear Bruce
Very interesting the theme that brought to our reflection and for debate
Thank you for sharing and for the 9 points of the collaboration manifesto
I had some doubts regarding the points:
- We promote a “One Team” behavior across teams and organizational divisions
- We encourage collaboration and teamwork over personal goals and office politics.
Question: Is it possible to achieve this apart from organizational culture and governance?

@Luis - Thank you for the comment
We have seen success with promoting a “One Team” behavior across teams. It helped that everyone was aligned on the organizational mission (that is, providing the best healthcare for our patients) even though the departments had different approaches to achieving this mission.
I have not witnessed collaboration over office politics. That is a harder nut to crack, which is why the Manifesto is a call to action and aspirational!
