Let's Show How a Little Project Management Can Go a Long Way
|
While many exciting events and activities will take place this year to commemorate PMI’s 50th Anniversary, the Global Celebration of Service is truly the cornerstone of the festivities, embodying the spirit of giving back that PMI has always been about. We view our 50th Anniversary as a time to reflect on the achievements of project managers and recognize the progress that the profession as a whole has made, as well as a time to pull together in service, contributing our collective skills and passion to make a difference in the world. To accomplish this, PMI is supporting the United Nations’ mission to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance societal goals. The UN has identified 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that serve as a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. PMI has committed to contributing 50,000 hours towards attaining these goals by 31 December 2019 and as of the time of this posting, we are already 12% of our way there! There are many ways to get involved in the Global Celebration of Service. PMI chapters are already doing great service projects that you can take part in, and many more chapters have expressed their excitement to begin aligning with local charities and starting new projects. Contact your local chapter to see what they are planning and how you can get involved. You can also participate on an individual level with any cause that you like, or get involved with the outreach work of any organization, such as your employer, house of worship or community group. Think about what causes motivate you…where your passion lies…or how your expertise could help most. Don't forget to fill out our pledge form and document your service hours. Together we have the power to make a difference.
