Someone asked me the other day (paraphrased):

"Josh, why do you have so many LinkedIn recommendations? Why don't I have any? What gives? I'm awesome too!"

You are awesome too.

I know you are.

So, here's how you do it.

Nice topic. It somehow reminds me of that Big Bang Theory episode in which the physics department is invited to a fundraiser: "I don't want to shake your germy hands, I just want your money!" I guess there are a lot of Sheldons on LinkedIn that want the recommendations without the quid-pro-quo, or just don't realize there is a quid-pro-quo involved.

Thanks Julien. I think with many people it's the fact that when an interaction is not happening face-to-face it's easy to forget that the human interaction and relationships are really still there. It's so easy to just click a button or type up an email asking people to do something for you. Most people don't realize they may be coming across as an annoying jerk..
