You probably use AI for task-level improvements. But your greater opportunity is to use it to manage the entire flow of project information: from meeting to analysis to stakeholder communication to leadership action. Here's how.
Utilize PMI Infinity – PMI’s AI platform – to help you optimize and reach project success. Plus, read the PMI Thought Leadership report GenAI and Agile: Amplifying Human-Centered Collaboration, along with more industry-leading reports! And gain insights from around the world in the Community-led AI in Project Management Report!
Prompt engineering is the process of talking with an AI (like ChatGPT and PMI Infinity) to generate the most accurate and relevant responses. Project managers can design, test, and refine these prompts and use creative and precise language to guide AI models to produce our desired output. Do you have a great prompt (or prompt chain) that you've tested and performs well? Share the wealth with your fellow PMs and add it here. Don't forget to remove any personal or proprietary information before you post.
Did you know PMI Infinity has a library of community generated and vetted prompts? If you would like to submit a prompt to our review process, check out the Infinity Prompt Library to learn more.

Most organizations are not short on AI tools. They are short on the execution infrastructure required to get value from them.
In healthcare, AI adoption cannot be treated as a simple technology rollout. It must be governed responsibly because project teams are often working with sensitive data, regulated workflows, complex stakeholder groups, clinical or operational risk, and high expectations for trust, transparency, and compliance.
While generative AI tools promise unprecedented developer velocity, enterprise delivery leaders face a growing paradox: localized coding speedups rarely translate into predictable product delivery or bottom-line business value. Without structural governance, unchecked code generation pushes bottlenecks downstream into integration testing, security compliance, and uncontrolled multi-cloud infrastructure costs.
Artificial intelligence is changing the way projects are delivered, but many project managers are still applying traditional acceptance criteria to systems that produce probabilistic rather than deterministic outcomes.
The world of work isn't slowing down and neither is the project profession. The people who move when it matters are the ones who lead. At PMI® Global Summit 2026, you'll discover what it means to be Built to Move. Gain future-ready skills in AI, technology, and leadership. Hear from the voices shaping what's next. And walk away equipped for the realities of today, not the playbook of yesterday.
In this PMI report, explore how GenAI strengthens agile teams by supporting trust, surfacing risks, and enabling breakthroughs—while keeping human judgment and collaboration at the center of project success.
Technology offers an incredible opportunity to improve project performance. This blog shares the latest research and how organizations are implementing AI into their project methodology. Come with an open mind, increase your knowledge, share your concerns, and become a project manager with new skills to offer an organization.
Better discovery leads to better project outcomes. This article highlights how Farm Credit Mid-America's PMO) guided its two summer interns in 2026 to deliver high-impact results using surveys in discovery to create actionable solutions.
Project managers generate an enormous amount of information. The challenge is not generating it; it is finding, connecting and using it when needed. Utilizing chatbots as a working project knowledge base can be invaluable.
Agile is becoming an area where artificial intelligence is having a significant impact. But we need to be cautious about the implications, as critical and foundational decisions must remain in the hands of humans.
Organizations often try to automate processes that don’t really work. Simplify first, then automate, and you’ll get more value out of artificial intelligence. Here's how...
One of the major AI engines just announced that it was embedding a watermark into every piece of content that it produces. This is very good news for project managers and the world at large, a step toward responsible AI.
AI should be used to amplify our skills and experience. Instead, it is too often being used as a replacement. Not supplementing our skills and experience, but substituting them for its own version of the truth.
Risk is an area where artificial intelligence has a lot of potential, and where it can do at least as good a job as people without much effort. But it’s not a silver bullet solution.
AI is powerful, but it only works as well as the experience of the person using it. This practitioner has learned through experience that even with advanced tools, judgment remain critical to achieving the right results.
What will project management be like in the future? Are we at the point where most of the changes have already happened, or will there be ongoing reimagining of what project management is all about?
Artificial intelligence and machine learning projects have a lot of schedule uncertainty due to the time needed to train a model to perform subjective work. It's important to recognize the differences from managing a traditional software project.
Practical, day-to-day AI tools are already at your disposal. The project managers who know how to work with these tools are delivering differently—and better—than those who do not.
