Structured System Management - A New Project and Program Management Tool

Jan 17, 2024 11:00 AM EST (UTC-5)
PREMIUM webinar

Structured system management provides a new management framework for planning, executing, and providing oversight for both projects and programs. The new management system is a part of the American Society for Quality ANSI G1:2021 Standard, and is a non-proprietary management framework. The structured system methodology leads users to better define outcomes and outputs of project or program, to define key milestones, tasks, and actions required for its successful delivery, and to define interim metrics to track its successful delivery. It provides a new toolset and structure for excellence in project and program management.

Fundamental Principles of Project Management

by Dave Violette, MPM, PMP, Nigel Blampied
October 18, 2023 | 61:00 | Views: 16,930 | PDUs: 1.00 | Rating: 4.35 / 5

This webinar introduces an article, “In Search of Project Management Principles”, recently published in the Project Management Journal, PMI’s research journal. The objective of the article is to determine whether a set of project management principles can be identified to serve as a common framework for developers and publishers of project management standards and guidelines. Twenty-two project management standards and other consensus documents were reviewed, revealing a common understanding across the globe of the requirements for effective project management. Potential statements of principles were extracted, clustered into four categories, and 12 principles were found to be common to multiple sources. These 12 principles were rewritten in a pre-specified, consistent form. The authors hope that this set of principles will serve as a common basis for future standards and guidelines on project management.

PMBOK 7 and the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct

by Bryan Shelby, Albert Agbemenu
August 08, 2023 | 61:42 | Views: 9,967 | PDUs: 1.00 | Rating: 4.49 / 5

Using the PMBOK 7 Project Performance Domains as our guide, we will discuss possible ethical dilemmas that could arise in these domains and explore how a project manager could determine the best approach to resolving these situations. As we work through these scenarios, the participants will have the opportunity to learn about PMI's four Ethical Values, gain an understanding of the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, and become familiar with the use of PMI's Ethical Decision-Making Framework (EDMF) while also becoming more familiar with some of the changes now found in PMBOK 7. The ethical situations will span a number of different disciplines within project management, coming out of our collective experience in projects in construction, technology, and organizational change in government, partnership, and corporate contexts.

PREMIUM webinar

In project management, negotiation is a crucial skill that enables project managers to achieve optimal outcomes within the constraints of time and cost. This webinar focuses on successful negotiation perspectives for project managers, specifically in dealing with stakeholder dynamics, scope management, time / cost / resource constraints. Referring to PMBOK (V7), the webinar highlights the three elements crucial for win-win negotiations: Character, Trust, and Approach. Participants will explore various negotiation approaches to pursue their intended goals and effectively create and claim value during negotiations. The process of creating value involves a focused study of the subject matter, including its associated products and by- products. The webinar also addresses the importance of understanding biases and leveraging them strategically for successful negotiation outcomes. Through scenario-based discussions, participants will gain insights into how different stakeholders perceive and resolve the given issue. By the end of the webinar, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of successful negotiation perspectives and will enhance their negotiation skills and be better equipped to navigate complex project environments.
