Global Drone Market

Drones have been in the news lately.  That has intensified the global commercial drone market.  In the next five years, the commercial drone market is expected to have an average compound annual growth rate of over 15 percent.  That will drive the global market value to just over $1 billion USD.   Yet another area of technology that will have an influence on the projects we are called upon to manage.

Recently the World Economic Forum published a piece stating “Innovation is one of the most important drivers of growth.”  They go on and talk about emerging technologies and the need for integration with the business strategy.  A number of forecasts for the growth of individual emerging technologies that are hot and growing put the HIGH estimate at $40 trillion by 2025.  That is only 9 years away.  Think about all the projects these emerging technologies will spawn between now and 2025.  We all should be very busy!

The Eyes of the Board are on PMs

I just read a report by a management consulting firm that looked at what was on the minds of members of the board.  As it turns out, they want to know how long it takes the organization to develop and deploy new features and functionality.  That appears to put PMs in the spotlight with members of the board!
