Wow - some of these stats are eye-opening and quite concerning.

A recently published stat is cause for great concern.  Did you realize that MOST organizations have a 70 percent project failure rate. This is one of many stats that have just been published

Just think how these stats would increase on new and emerging technologies we have ZERO experience with, no Best Practices and no benchmarks.

New Stats about the busy year ahead for PMs

I just participated in a slide presentation about 2017.  Data suggests that over 60 percent of organizations IT departments believe they will initiate new projects involving emerging  technology in 2017.  A whopping 30 percent believe they need new tech pros to clearly articulate their business value and how the new technologies will aide in achieving business goals.  With all that, only 5 percent stated they wanted to hire PMs and 8 percent believe their biggest leadership challenge will be managing these projects.  Makes one think!

Troubling Business/Technology Development

I was recently asked to get involved in the early stages of a new product development that truly has the potential to transform this industry.  After interacting with their team for 2 days some concerns have surfaced.  First and foremost they do not use any industry recognized approaches for their product development.  Nothing close to anything close to anything in PMI or on this site.  They pick and choose what to call their approach and have no formal definition of each phase or stage.  Equally as important is that they pick and choose what they want to do as part of the development and have selected to ignore other important components of development.  This is starting to look like they are trying to severely short-cut what anyone would consider a standard development process. It is a business/technology initiative, but all they want to do is concentrate on the tech aspects.  What would you do?
