Smart Vehicles -     Many researchers have come out with their projections and it appears they are unified in their view of the future of connected vehicles.  All new vehicles will be connected to the Internet in the not so distant future. Some say as really as 2025.  At this time, current projections indicate that around 90 percent of new cars will be connected by 2020 and it will only continue to grow from there.  There are packages that are currently available which allows previously unconnected vehicles to connect to the Internet  and share smart vehicle capabilities.  The smart vehicle app market alone is expected to grow to nearly $1 billion in 2017.  All of that is a fair amount of software development projects given the infancy of that market today.

Interesting times for sure. Security, though, is a big concern.

It is creating a great deal of conversation in Insurance, personal security, and just what responsibility will still reside with the "operator" vs "Programmer" if there is a software fail who pays the cost. It is amazing to think how fast the technology will move versus our ability to create guidelines around it.

@Maria I say a sidewalk with IoT sensors in it! Changes the display in the window based on the foot traffic analysis, time of day, day of week etc.....

Kevin,

This is a very interesting subject, I totally agree with you. One example of this are the new BMW's but the WIFI service providers are still limited making the packages offered extremely expensive compared to how much data you can get.
