I just participated in a slide presentation about 2017. Data suggests that over 60 percent of organizations IT departments believe they will initiate new projects involving emerging technology in 2017. A whopping 30 percent believe they need new tech pros to clearly articulate their business value and how the new technologies will aide in achieving business goals. With all that, only 5 percent stated they wanted to hire PMs and 8 percent believe their biggest leadership challenge will be managing these projects. Makes one think!

@Andrew: You can't edit your comment on blogs or articles. Ive raised this issue to PMI multiple times.
@Kevin: Im surprised only 5% cnsidered the option of hiring PM's. That's somehow alarming.

@ Rami 5% i scary with the projected dollars being spent on emerging technologies. I guess they just expect all of us to do more with less!

@Kevin: That's exactly what came to my mind: Do more for less - We shall wait and see.

I am already feeling that 5% wth hiring being freezed, layoff indicated in 2017 Q1
Thanks Rami, it is quite a limitation. I sent a PM to Kevin apologizing.
Regarding the findings, it shows that the value, or the missing value, of a partnership b/t PMO and C-level leadership. PMO involvement with strategic discussions will help to align with future planning.
@Rami, and Kevin, yes I agree, more with less. The math does not add up. That was my attempt with two plus two equals 5.
Go ahead everyone , try to type the 'plus' symbol :)

@Andrew: Yes it is quite a limitation. In many cases it also happened that I had some typos. It seems 2017 will be an interesting year in terms of job vacancies.
Interesting!
