This is an interesting piece form the management consultants at McKinsey. They point out that the world of work is changing. Emerging technologies are behind the majority of that change!

Shocking to see that technology and digitization are related to the future jobs AND there's still significant part of the world population WITHOUT access to internet. (Not to mention also the basic needs)

Thanks Kevin, interesting, combined with the Gartner report on AI impact published recently and the current increasing rate of move toward commodification of knowledge work it does raise questions over project management in future. When agile methods broke through many of the traditional consultancy models of fee earn structures and contracts etc were noticably misaligned to the emerging trend. Is this where agile approaches lead by synthesis with rise and impact of AI and commodification of PM work. Are we looking at crowd-managed change in near future with the lines between artificial and human dissolved to become one and same - simply indistinguishable change agents. What does that do for fee earning structures? Does management and delivery of virtual product truly displace project management and all that is solid melts into air.......?

I am afraid you hit the nails on their heads! Now you know why I have been an advocate of Virtual Project Management - as the report said the nature of work has changed. Can you imagine managing a program or project that includes robots using AI? Are we ready for that?
