PMI Global Summit 2023: A Presenter’s Perspective

Categories: Global Summit 2023

By: Teresa Lawrence, PhD, PMP, CSM

Oh boy! Who wouldn’t love the opportunity to present at PMI Global Summit? How fortunate I am to have been one among the 127 sessions offered this year in Atlanta! The energy, the camaraderie, the talent, the hunger for learning…it was exciting to meet, mingle and watch attendees struggle over which session to attend.

With just shy of 180 people in my 90-minute session (an interactive session, no less), you can imagine how charged up everyone was. My session, “The Sophisticated Problem Solver: Separating Idea Generation from Idea Evaluation,” highlighted the crux of creative problem solving.

Everyone had a chance to learn, practice, and apply the guidelines of divergent thinking to generate multiple alternatives and guidelines for convergent thinking to make choices from among the many alternatives that were presented. How powerful it was to teach the skills necessary to facilitate stakeholder engagement so that we can ask with confidence, “Did everyone have a chance to weigh in and be heard?”—knowing full well the resounding answer is yes! Nothing beats training for traction!
