One of the issues I hear often is that project managers don’t have the resources to motivate and reward their teams. Well, I say that you can, if you focus on the right things. Achievement, recognition, the work itself, responsibility, advancement and growth. You can provide those for your project team, can’t you? In this video I look at 5 ways to motivate your team in small ways, every day. I give you some tips for motivating your team (without having to pay bonuses).

Elizabeth, thanks for the quick video. One thing that I've gotten into the habit of was writing quick notes to people as thank yous for the hard work. The act of writing the note took a couple of minutes, but you would be amazed how long those notes would stay on people's desks. Even a quick sticky with a note saying "Good job on XXX" was stuck to a monitor for over 3 months!

The team appreciates it because it shows you are paying attention and that you care. The last note is to make sure the thank yous get spread around so that you don't appear to be playing favorites.

Thanks for sharing!
