A boy learned that there was a sage in his city and that all the people ran to the square to hear a little of his wisdom.

Intrigued, he decided to challenge the sage and see how wise he really was.

The boy caught a small bird and headed for the square.

He managed to get close to the sage.
- Sir, I would like to make you a challenge - replied the boy.
- Surely my son, what is it about? - replied the wise man.

Placing his hands behind his back, the boy asked:
– Is the bird I have in my hands alive or dead?

If the sage replied that he was alive, the boy would kill the bird by shaking its hand.

If the sage replied that he was dead, the boy would open his hand to release the bird that would fly to freedom.

The sage replied, after thinking silently for a few seconds:
– The answer is in your hands.

What, for you, is the moral of this story?

The story highlights for me how we sometimes blame other factors for situations under our control.
