Question
A few years ago, the PMBOK Guide recommended that project managers practice the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Why was this recommendation withdrawn and replaced by Emotional Intelligence?

Dear André
Thank you for participating in this reflection
We can start by reading the book: "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People"
Surely you will find answers to start practicing
In the 5th and 6th Editions of the PMBOK Guide it was recommended to practice the 7 Habits

Dear Alcides
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion
I am convinced that it is.
May we be better Project Managers than practicing the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Dear Mahabubur
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your questions
Habit 3 refers, as mentioned in the previous article, to the habit of managing our lives according to our purpose and the time we all have (we only have 24 hours a day)
Using the Importance x Urgency matrix we can focus on the activities of:
Quadrant I. Urgent and important (Do) - important deadlines and crises
Quadrant II. Not urgent but important (Plan) - long-term development
When practicing the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People we have to consider our improvement.
That’s why there is the 7th Habit
Dear Luis,
thanks for sharing this good article

Dear Luis,
I have read recently "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" from Stephen Covey. :-)

Thank you very much for sharing your view which I share 100%.

Dear Tiago
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion
Yes, we agree. The Principles are universal
I also consider that it is possible to develop Emotional Intelligence by practicing the 7 Habits
I'm surprised how it appears in the place that appears to comment on this article and I have not responded
I apologize to you for just doing it now
Dear Luis,
Sure. I am available to talk about it.
Cheers,
CP
Luis -
Good job at connecting the dots between Covey's work and Goleman's!
While the latter is one example of a model which supports the importance of elevated EI, there are others out there as well so this might have been a case of PMI choosing to go with the principles rather than a specific "method".

Dear Kiron
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion
Is the principle to use Emotional Intelligence?
And are the 7 Habits the method?

Great post, and I like the correlation you made between both but as Kiron mentioned, this remains one model only, so maybe in your next model, you can explore more models.
Thank you for sharing this.

Hi Luis,
First of all, thank you. It was a very interesting article.
Trusting others, taking the initiative in themselves and acting seriously for the benefit of each other.
I understand these are necessary elements for both the EQ and the good personality.

Dear Anish
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion
Emotional intelligence is a necessary but not sufficient condition to lead
You just gave me an idea:
to create a topic on this subject

Dear Luis Branco:
As you just demonstrated in your reflection on the subject, highly effective people who practice Covey's 7 habits at an individual level are emotionally intelligent.
But, how to take Covey´s 7 habits to next level to foster the conditions to develop emotionally intelligent successful teams?
Thank you so much for sharing a such comprehensive articles on the topic.
Best Regards
Paulo Roque
Perfect. thank you for sharing your thoughts
